OSF OnCall Urgent Care (Urgo)
In recent years, there has been a national movement to address two major issues plaguing the healthcare system: the high costs incurred by patients visiting hospitals for non-urgent concerns and the lack of access to healthcare in underserved areas. Many Americans, particularly in rural or low-income areas, face significant barriers to receiving care, often due to the absence of nearby healthcare facilities. As a result, individuals delay treatment until their conditions worsen, leading to overcrowded emergency rooms and high healthcare expenses.
ADG collaborated with OSF Healthcare to develop a forward-thinking solution to these issues: a small, cost-effective outpatient facility designed to be easily constructed within various communities across their service area. This prototype facility was crafted to combine functionality, adaptability, and patient-centered design to bring necessary care directly to communities. The compact design includes essential outpatient services, enabling access to primary care, urgent care, and diagnostic services closer to home, thus easing the pressure on larger hospital systems.
Following the success of the initial prototype, ADG partnered with OSF Healthcare to replicate the model at several locations throughout the region. Each new facility has followed the core principles of the original design, but with slight modifications based on local criteria.
